There is so much beauty in this world
When we open our eyes to see and our hearts to feel it
Surely there are times that human ugliness
Possesses nearly all of our attention
After years and years
Spent in a loveless place
Where automatons surrounded us
Going about the pretence
Of what they tried to tell us was real life
But those of us who came with a deeper knowing
Always understood something was deeply amiss
And if we fell outside the limits they prescribed
And were then judged as mad bad or dangerous to know
Where did we have to go but away
And into the deep dive to find
That part of us that nearly starved
From lack oxygen
If we sensed our home was the ocean
We started to drown there
If we sensed it was the air
We took flight
Like Lilith
But our destiny was always to descend again
To throw off the negative charges and imprisoning beliefs
They placed inside us
And to find a truth of beauty
We could manifest on earth
Or at least make some kind of attempt
To help through our very story
To open the eyes of others
To the all magnificence that surrounds us
That we become blind to
When we forget or soul
Or lose our way
