Lacunae spaces
Speak to me of nights we connected
Only later to fall off the high wire
As the net that contained us snapped
Waking me with a start
Your loving face transformed to angry mask
Were can I hide
When the sugar coating has come off
And your demons are seeking a fight
Erecting an electric fence with a warning sign
Keep out
Suddenly I become the enemy
Then the fall through space
With nothing to hold onto
Why didn’t I just allow myself to let go
Instead of clinging on for dear life
Maybe these are just the lessons we have to learn
Enough pain may be the only way we effect a change
And then the empty space of the lacunae
Become both
Our suffering
And our healing place
