Let soft rain fall
As you remember how it was
To try to live your life
To be someone small
Who hoped for so much more
Than the harsh treatment you received
And although life may tempt you to become as hard
As those whose defences left you scarred
Remember you don’t have to suffer in that way
As long as you can find on a brighter day
A way to be kinder and more gentle to your soul
And just because they tried to mould you
Into someone set so far apart
From the barricaded reaches of your heart
Remember that schism
That forces you to part
With all that is most precious and tender
Deep inside your soul
Can only be healed
By your own remembering
So let the fires rage
That speak of truth
And so that you can find your way back
To all that was barricaded in your youth
And as soft rain falls
Let it renew
Every seed they tried to kill
Inside of you
Before your soul and spirit knew
Of the travesty
Of all they tried to undo
So beautifully written. ❤
