Darkened Hearts
Travelled over many wildernesses in their quest to belong
Seeking someone with the knowing of the night
They too had lived through and not forsaken
Darkened Heart knew deep inside
That the darkness was nothing less
Than the absence of a memory of light
And so the promise of it
Was always held close within that
Ever Darkened Heart
Until one day
A darkened heart opened itself
To the love of another
Who shone a light
Into that darkness
Revealing that it too
Was a prisoner of the darkness
Two darkened hearts then lit within each other
An eternal flame
Which no darkness
Could ever dispel again
