Clear day
You appear out of foggy skies
As I wrestle to throw back the night
And darkness
The blindness that descends
Not so much with sleep
But with loss of consciousness
Which obliterates
The light of reason
Never entirely bad
In every season
Oh how my heart sings with joy
When sun emerges from behind clouds
As baby calf is pulled from groaning mother
As new life emerges from the husks of that past
That held me captive so many years
So many fears
I am now shedding
Which I use now
As stepping stones
To walk forward upon
In the light of a clear morning
Released from darkness
Released from unconsciousness
Released from sleep
I rouse myself to the light
And seek my solace under clear skies
Drowned in the warm love
Of the sun’s rays
This oh so silent
Most healing
Of benedictions
