I am me
Often carrying a tender wound inside
That was for so long a deep void
An aching echo
Of unrequited longing
For you to see me
And promise
You would never leave me
And past lovers sensing it
Of course so often left
And my ache grew stronger
As my longing and wound just deepened
Until I had no alternative
But to dive into the void
To embrace it
To become it
To let it speak to me
Of what my hunger was
How far it lay back
And its roots in past generations
And so you my ancestors called to me
Asking for recognition
And I said this wound will end here
Now with me
For in the grieving
I will know it
And in the feeling of it
I will finally find the courage to release it
As forgiveness rises up like a blessing
As I realise the only cure
Is
Was
Always will be
Only love and a desire to reconnect
Heart to heart
Soul to soul
In complete honesty
With the world
And with my tangled history
