Ocean deep

All alone

In the alone

When you found yourself

At the mercy of this flood

You discovered you could swim in this ocean

Here where your feelings moved

Like a swell of tidal

Hidden so deep

Obscured from view

You found a place to enjoy diving

Down so deep during the deluge

Despite those days of torrential flooding

When you feared you may

Instead

Be totally swept away

By comparison

The life of your mind

At times becomes a barren place

When filled with thoughts of doom

Which are nothing more

Than projections

Of old loss and pain

Resisted

So now

When you find yourself

Back on solid ground

You know it will not always be for you

 A rock that you can cling to

In anxiety

You know that water will sometimes

Come

Uprising

Swelling your banks

Asking you

To bend and flex

And also to surrender

Places where black and white dichotomies

Built a fortress that in protecting you

Made you rigid and lonely

And so very very slowly

Hestiantly

You are beginning to

Understand

You can swim in this ocean

Alone

Until another hand reaches inwards

To pull you home

To a place of safety

Where ocean waves

Slowy receed again

To be swallowed again

By ocean deep
