Why is it we are always trying to take our leave

And you are always moving on

And why is this so hard

To simply be

Be here now

And to open our hearts

To what really is

In this present moment

Often the hardest thing

Far harder

Than endlessly running

Endlessly taking leave

In time we must surely hold ourselves alone

In the midst of that ocean

But just for now

When there is time

Can we not be together

Or is it that in that togetherness

Already fears of ending

And of leaving are evoked?

The silent threat

Why not open now

Just to the meeting

To the simplicity of being

And to the staying

For a little while

Surely in time the tide will call us

Home to our island

Or to new adventures

But for now

Why not stay

Why not rest a little while

Here with me
