This silent moment
Is pregnant with so many things
Deep within it
I feel the awakening
Of the irreconcilable
How can it be known
Through words
A busy world crowds out
Depth
Wants to silence
Or turn a deaf ear
To profoundities or pain
For which there are no solutions
Only time, receptivity, acceptance
Souls not yet shattered
Or split wide apart
Will never understand
And so we
Who suffer
Awaken like sleepwalkers
Discovering a strange and distant land
Where our truth can never be known
We carry our silent burdens
Like weary soldiers
Returned from a terrible battle
Laying our weary bodies down at night
And awakening at dawn
With a pain in our hearts
And burning knowledge in our cells
That transforms and deepens us
In silence
