We all go through it I guess, at least those of us who have survived difficult times and wounds in relationships. There is a time when those wounds ark up and I am thinking a lot about this at present as Saturn is transiting in square to my natal Chiron in the seventh at present as Mercury moves over Pluto on the first, while Venus approaches the opposition to Chiron the conjunction to Pluto as well.
Things from the buried past that were not fully resolved (and I guess this is the essence of Pluto as well as connections to the ancestral past we carry in the form of unconscious wounds lived on) come to a head when Pluto is aspected. Mercury wants to give a voice to them, Venus makes us sensitive to projecting old pain in relating or feeling that are not being valued on new situations that contain echoes of old, deep wounding issues. The upshot is that we get to look at our pain body, those things we carry that we might not yet have fully brought to awareness, to integrate and resolve, or at least become more aware of. We learn lessons about how to love and care for our wounds.
I’ve shared in another blog about the Wounded Healer Chiron. He is a centaur, half animal and half human and the wound is to his animal or instinctual side. It is a wound that was caused by an arrow left lying around his cave by Hercules after his battle with the Nine Headed Hydra.
This is a Plutonian/Scorpionic battle with emotional wounds concerning the pain others cause (most often through unconsciousness or through a conflict of desires). The resolution lies is seeing that we are ultimately powerless over others’ behaviour. In the end all we can really take responsibility for is our reactions and self care, but that learning is one that takes time and often a lot of suffering to birth to wisdom.
The battle with the Hydra is only won when Hercules bends to his knees and holds the cut head of the Hydra up to the light. The resolution of our Chiron wound may be the realisation it can’t be changed but through feeling it we can mature emotionally and spiritually.
This idea of wisdom born through suffering is very much associated with Chiron in that the wound he suffers from can never be fully healed but through suffering it he learns heaps about the nature and effect of wounded instincts. Through difficult experiences he is challenged to learn tools for self care and self soothing. His learning also makes him able to relate to and help others.
Chiron wounds may be the soft sore places that we need to tend and wrap cotton wool around. They may be the sensitive spots we need to be more aware of, when and how they are triggered, how they attract others who wound us in that area or how we wound others too by our wounded reactions. Our Chiron wounds could be called our triggers, and working to understand how and when we are triggered or are arked into emotional flashbacks or regressions will help us to sooth these responses. And to understand how to treat others more tenderly and with more understanding and compassion when they are triggered.
Spiritual teacher Eckhardt Tolle has spoken of the the pain body, which relates to this Chiron experience. The following article from Tolle on the Huffington Post site speaks of this process and I have copied it in my blog to follow : Being Present With The Emotional Pain Body and provided the link there.
