Wrap me up in your blanket of love
When I am crying
And my soul is aching and sore
Lend me your soothing embrace
Do not turn your back
But treat me tenderly
If the experts said
Let her cry it out
Don’t over ride
What your heart screams to your mind
Is true
And don’t let your mind
Close the door on your heart
We all need love
It is as essential to our soul as air
Without it we wither and die
But the soul in our body never lies
And if we turn a deaf ear
The body will scream
Not in words
But in symptoms
That cry of the longing it has for love
Upon which we learned to turn a deaf ear
When we closed our minds to what
Our hearts, bodies and souls
Tried so desperately to tell us
Was true

I was listening to a powerful programme on attachment today where they spoke of how detrimental it is to just leave a baby alone crying. A lot of people who suffered emotional neglect texted in messages.. I just came across this poem from 4 years ago.. We can also comfort our selves when sad, just as we would a little baby. . I don’t need to do it so much lately but my healing really began when became able to hold my own pain.
